ApeCoin DAO-N LOW #12
To the Bored,
Good evening and thank you for reading the twelfth edition of the Bored Ape Gazetteâs ApeCoin DAO-N Low.
We are ten days into 2023 and itâs shaping up to be another busy year around the swamp! This week, there are three Ape Improvement Proposals on the ballot, an update from a DAO funded project, the Meebits second PropHouse is in full swing, and one of the new Special Council members is set to get an interesting tattoo soon!Â
With so much happening around the DAO, let's ape right into the news!
The first of three Ape Improvement Proposals that the $Ape community is voting on this week is AIP-105 titled, âApeCoin Drops in the Real World,â by Dropverse. In this proposal, the company asked the ApeCoin DAO to allocate 6,000 $Ape over the next 12 months to its âPokĂ©mon Go for NFTsâ style app so it can distribute the tokens as rewards to its users.Â
Dropverse is an app that âtransforms the world into a digital playground, allowing you to navigate the world to find collectibles, complete challenges, and earn rewards,â according to the companyâs website.Â
At the time of this newsletterâs publication, 96.36% of $Ape voters have voted in favor of this proposal.Â
The second AIP on the ballot this week is AIP-173 titled, âAdd new Discourse Category for âAdministrative Review,ââ by the Cartan Groupâs Brian Tang.
âThe motivation of this AIP is to provide further clarity on Discourse about the AIPs and the step in which it is in,â Tang wrote. âIf an AIP is tagged with Needs Administrative Review, the AIP currently sits in AIP Drafts until it is returned for reconstruction, clarification, or approved to vote. Adding this new Discourse category will specifically identify those AIPs currently being reviewed by the Special Council.â
If passed, the ApeCoin DAOâs Discourse page would include a new âAdministrative Reviewâ category.Â
At the time of this newsletterâs publication, the DAO is currently split on what to do with AIP-173 with 50.77% of the community in favor of this proposal.
The third and final AIP on the ballot this week is AIP-175 titled âEstablish ApeComms,â by Bored Ape Yacht Club member TheHodlrCollective.Â
In AIP-175, TheHodlrCollective laid out four key services that the ApeComms team would perform for the DAO if their proposal passes.Â
âThis proposal would put in place the ApeComms working group, which would provide full time AIP development assistance to community members in the ApeCoin ecosystem, educate and provide resources to community members about AIPs and other issues important to the ApeCoin DAO, assist the DAO administrators with communications, and develop a public Discord,â TheHodlrCollective wrote.
In total, the ApeComms team has asked the DAO to allocate $70,978 USD for a three-month term to pay its eight-person team.
NOTE: The ApeComms proposal cost went from $114,129 USD to $70,978 USD after AdventurousApe, Waabam, and 0xAmplify were selected to be Stewards of Working Group Zero.
Currently, the ApeComms vote is tight with 54.91% of $Ape voters casting their ballots against the proposal.
The window to vote on these three proposals closes tomorrow evening at 9 P.M.EST. $Ape holders can cast their votes here: https://snapshot.org/#/apecoin.eth. The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to follow these proposals and will let you know the results tomorrow night.Â
As the ApeCoin DAO votes on three new AIPs this week, the community got a major update from a previously approved proposal.Â
In September 2022, the ApeCoin DAO passed AIP-91 titled, âPlatform to connect talent within the Ape community,â by BAYC member Holocronape. Since then, the project became ApeTalent and has opened its doors to the $Ape community!
ApeTalent is a social platform where verified Yuga Labs NFT holders and $Ape holders with at least 500 coins can connect and collaborate with the bored and brightest in the NFT space.
âIt has been months of a lot of work, but it has been a dream to do this project," ApeTalent told the Gazette. "I owe so much to the Ape community that being able to build something that can be useful and help make visible the great talent that exists among the members is a source of pride for me. We are already working on the roadmap for 2023 and we are very excited to see where this path takes us."
Users can sign up for the ApeTalent platform here: https://apetalent.xyz/auth/login?callbackUrl=%2Ftalents
While ApeTalent opened its doors to the community yesterday, the window to vote in the second Meebits PropHouse also opened up!
The ApeCoin DAOâs second Meebit PropHouse contest is underway, and 61 artists and builders submitted their ideas to the contest! Meebits holders will have until January 16th at 12 P.M. EST to cast their vote and pick which ideas to fund. The top five vote getting ideas will receive a microgrant from the ApeCoin DAO for 1000 $Ape. Check out the 61 proposals here:Â https://prop.house/meebits/round-2Â
Finally, BoredApeG, Veratheape, and Gerry started their terms on the ApeCoin DAOâs Special Council on January 1st and one of them is planning on fulfilling a unique campaign promise.Â
During the race, Special Council member Gerry promised the community that he would get a tattoo of Jimmy the Monkeyâs butthole on his elbow if he received 300 unique votes. In the end, Gerry received 316 unique votes, according to exit poll data.
Following Gerryâs post, the Special Council member told the Gazette that heâs a man of his word and that he will be getting the tattoo soon. ââI am a man of my word, ser,â Gerry said. âIn the military we have a phrase that refers to working hard. Assholes and Elbows So itâs an appropriate tattoo anyways. I may just dedicate my left arm to our community.â
The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to follow Gerryâs tattoo and will let you know when he gets it!
Thank you so much for reading this weekâs edition of the ApeCoin DAO-N Low and be sure to like the Bored Ape Gazette on Twitter to stay up to date with all things $Ape!
Sincerely,
Kyle
