APECOIN DAO-N Low #15
To the Bored,
Good evening and thanks for reading the fifteenth edition of the Bored Ape Gazette’s ApeCoin DAO-N Low.
Things have been anything but boring around the swamp recently as the ApeCoin DAO has a big vote this week and some fun things coming up!
To begin, the ApeCoin DAO is currently in the middle of voting for a new ApeCoin DAO administrator after Working Group Zero ran a request for proposal process (RFP) earlier this month.
During Working Group Zero’s RFP process, two different teams submitted proposals to the DAO and expressed interest in becoming the next ApeCoin DAO administrator.
The two teams that submitted proposals were WebSlinger and the conglomeration of Autonomous, Lemma, and Provenance.
Take a look at each team’s summary of their proposals below:
WebSlinger: “The APE Foundation’s progression towards a decentralized future where the ecosystem is increasingly directed by a broad consortium of stakeholders is an exciting journey, but also a complex one,” Cerebrous from the Webslinger team wrote. “The WebSlinger team in conjunction with Crestbridge Cayman Limited, a regulated Cayman service provider are positioned to support and assist the ApeCoin community through this journey with our unique background as a group of grassroots Web3 community builders & experienced operating entrepreneurs.”
Autonomous, Lemma, and Provenance: “Autonomous is delighted to submit a proposal in response to the Request for Proposal (RFP) with the expectation that a consortium of service providers based in the Cayman Islands will collectively fulfill the comprehensive scope of work outlined in the RFP,” Autonomous wrote. “It is our belief that the utilization of multiple providers to deliver the entire scope of work will not only mitigate the risk of a singular point of failure, but also encourage decentralization.”
Each of these teams’ proposals would cost the ApeCoin DAO $75,000 USD per month, according to the two groups.
To find out more about the two teams, the Bored Ape Gazette reached out to both groups via Twitter and Discourse yesterday and is currently waiting on the groups’ replies. The Bored Ape Gazette will keep you updated on responses and will publish their answers as soon as the Gazette receives them.
While neither team had answered the Gazette’s questions at the time of this newsletter’s publication, Working Group Zero supplied the community with its own analysis of the two teams and made its recommendation to the DAO.
“Following multiple meetings with all parties and careful consideration of the four proposals received, the WG0 Stewards believe WebSlinger to be the best choice for the next administrator of the APE Foundation,” Working Group Zero wrote. “While both groups are competent and accomplished – WebSlinger’s breadth of background, CFO services provided by a global entity, desire to help decentralize DAO operations, and extensive experience in the Crypto / Web3 / DAO environment were the key differentiating factors in our choice.”
Take a look at how Working Group Zero scored the two teams below:
At the time of this newsletter’s publication, Websligner is currently in the lead with 1.9 million $Ape cast in their favor.
Regardless of which group the ApeCoin DAO ultimately decides to go with as its next Administrator, it is important to note that a DAO Administrator is necessary for the ApeCoin DAO to operate, according to Working Group Zero Steward RedVulkan.
"As stated in AIP-196, there are certain roles and responsibilities that a Cayman Foundation Administrator must legally fill for the ApeCoin DAO," RedVulkan said. "This RFP is being done to fill this Administrator role while WG0 works on identifying other roles and responsibilities that the community can legally take on with a goal to further decentralize the DAO."
$Ape holders have until tomorrow night at 9 p.m. EST to cast their coins for their preferred administrator. The Bored Ape Gazette will let you know which group the community selects after the poll closes.
A new administrator isn’t the only thing that the DAO is voting on this week, there is also an Ape Improvement Proposal on the ballot.
AIP-150 titled “Forever Apes // Upgrade #4 // ApeCoin Capsules Vol.1,” written by the Forever Apes team is currently up for a vote at the ApeCoin DAO.
“This proposal presents the idea that the Forever Apes team produce 1000 ApeCoin Capsules,” AIP 150 author 12Gauge wrote. “Contents include 4 stickers, 1 patch, and 1 poster. FREE to claim (plus shipping) to anyone with 20 $APE in their wallet. We believe this encourages token accumulation, furthers $APE brand recognition IRL, and reduces unauthorized sales via unofficial channels.”
In total, the Forever Apes team is asking the DAO to allocate $23,000 USD worth of $Ape so they can create and giveaway the 1,000 ApeCoin Capsules to the community.
The window to vote on AIP-150 closes tomorrow at 9 P.M. EST. To find out more about Forever Apes AIP, checkout their full proposal here: https://forum.apecoin.com/t/aip-150-forever-apes-upgrade-4-apecoin-capsules-vol-1/9140
AIP-150 isn’t the only thing that Forever Apes has going on around the DAO. This Friday, the Forever Apes team is set to drop its highly anticipated BAYC themed playing cards as a free claim for $Ape holders.
In total, Forever Apes will be giving away 1,000 BAYC themed playing card decks to $Ape holders on a first come first serve basis.
“We will be launching our claim website this Friday for Wave 1,” Forever Apes recently tweeted. “Out of fairness to everyone across the globe in different time zones, we will be doing 4 separate claim waves. 250 will be available for claim per wave.”
The Bored Ape Gazette will keep you posted on this claim and will bring you more information on how to get a deck of cards later this week.
Thank you so much for reading this week’s edition of the ApeCoin DAO-N Low and be sure to follow the Bored Ape Gazette on Twitter to stay up to date with all things $Ape!
Sincerely,
