APECOIN DAO-N Low #16
To the Bored,
Good evening and thanks for reading the sixteenth edition of the Bored Ape Gazette’s ApeCoin DAO-N Low!
While there are no Ape Improvement Proposals on the ballot this week, things are anything but boring around the $Ape ecosystem and the community has an important month ahead.
Recently the ApeCoin DAO selected a new Administrator, Working Group Zero has continued to make progress on updating AIP-1 and building up the Working Group structure at the DAO, and a Yuga Labs themed playing cards claim is happening later this week!
With so much happening around the $Ape ecosystem, let's ape into the news and get to the ApeCoin DAO-N Low!
To begin, the ApeCoin DAO has a new Administrator after the community elected WebSlinger for the position on February 22nd with 2.4 million votes being cast in their favor.
The Bored Ape Gazette has reached out to WebSlinger for an interview via Twitter but has not heard back from the organization.
While we don’t know much about WebSlinger, we do know that they were vetted by Working Group Zero and that they were WGO’s preferred choice based on the scoresheet they provided.
While the Gazette has not had the chance to interview Webslinger and its team yet, we do know that they’re interested in helping the ApeCoin DAO decentralize.
“The APE Foundation’s progression towards a decentralized future where the ecosystem is increasingly directed by a broad consortium of stakeholders is an exciting journey, but also a complex one,” Cerebrous from the Webslinger team wrote in the group’s proposal. “The WebSlinger team in conjunction with Crestbridge Cayman Limited, a regulated Cayman service provider are positioned to support and assist the ApeCoin community through this journey with our unique background as a group of grassroots Web3 community builders & experienced operating entrepreneurs.”
This push for decentralization has already begun at the ApeCoin DAO as $Ape community members and WGO Stewards Amplify, Lost, and Vulkan have started moderating the ApeCoin DAO’s Discourse page.
“As many of us know, Cartan previously performed the Discourse moderation tasks for the past 11 months,” Vulkan told the Gazette. “Transitioning those tasks to the community has been an important first step in further decentralizing the DAO.”
As these WGO Stewards help the DAO decentralize by taking over some of the moderating responsibilities, the WGO team is setting its sights on updating AIP-1 titled “Proposing The DAO-Process” and solidifying the working group structure into the ApeCoin DAO going forward.
“With the conclusion of the mission statement workshops, RFP process, and APE Foundation administrator transition, WG0 has shifted to fulfilling the final tasks in our mandate,” WGO Steward BadTeeth told the Gazette. “1. Propose updates to AIP-1 to streamline our grant process and 2. Propose an AIP with future working group guidelines and objectives.”
BadTeeth went on to tell the Gazette that he and the WGO team will be working on fulfilling its two objectives in public and that they want community input!
“WG structure is in the conceptual phase, we want to develop this in public this month to do everything we can to make sure we have buy in and support on the version of the proposal that goes to vote,” Badteeth said. “If you're an $APE holder who has occasionally thought you'd like to learn more about the DAO, there is literally no better time than this month to dig in, ask questions, and have a chance to help shape the future of ApeCoin DAO!”
$Ape holders that are interested in getting involved with WGO and helping shape the DAO going forward can tune into the group’s next Twitter Space tomorrow at 3 P.M. EST.
While there is a ton of work taking place at the ApeCoin DAO, there is also a good amount of play coming up!
The Forever Apes team is distributing another 250 decks of Yuga Labs themed playing cards to $Ape holders with at least 50 ApeCoin in their wallets this Friday!
“Miss out on Wave 1,” Forever Apes recently tweeted. “If you were in Paris (or heading to Denver), mark your calendars. We'll save you a seat. Our free-to-claim ApeCoin cards are back next Friday, March 10 for Wave 2. Must hold 50+ $APE. Questions? Be sure to check all of the info from Wave 1 below!”
