APECOIN DAO-N Low #19
To the Bored,Â
Good evening and thanks for reading the nineteenth edition of the Bored Ape Gazetteâs ApeCoin DAO-N Low newsletter.
We are halfway through Ape-ril and things are swinging around the ApeCoin DAO and the Yuga Labs ecosystem! Recently a new use case for $Ape popped up in the expanded Yugaverse, and the ApeCoin DAO is voting on four Ape Improvement Proposals this week. Looking forward, Working Group Zeroâs DAO Governance proposal is coming up for a vote soon and the next window to claim a free deck of Forever Apesâ Yuga Labs themed playing cards is taking place on April 27th.
With so much happening around the DAO, let's ape into the news and get to the ApeCoin DAO-N low!
To begin, Adidas is currently moving its âInto the Metaverse NFTâ project to its next phase. Dubbed, âALTS by Adidas,â this major brand introduced a new use case for $Ape over the weekend.Â
Adidas NFT holders were invited to purchase one of 3,500 âUniversal keysâ from the sportswear company using $Ape or Eth as a payment option. These keys could be used by âALTS by Adidasâ holders to select their preferred base trait for Adidasâ new profile photo project.Â
Adidas is just the latest big brand to accept $Ape as a form of payment. As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, Gucci sold 3,019 Otherside Relic KodaPendants for 1,358,550 $Ape on April 7th.Â
As more and more companies accept $Ape as a payment option, the ApeCoin DAO is voting on four different AIPs this week that aim to expand the coinâs ecosystem.
The first AIP on the ballot this week is AIP-230 titled, ââI donât hate apes, I just want them to fund public goods!ââ by former ApeCoin DAO Special Council member Maaria Bajwa.Â
In her AIP, Bajwa proposed that the ApeCoin DAO make a $300,000 USD donation to the ETH Global and that the DAO use $700,000 USD to participate in 11 EthGlobal hackathons this year.
âApeCoin would not be possible without Ethereum,â Bajwa wrote. âAs a public good, Ethereum benefits from shared responsibility and collective appreciation, and the ApeCoin community should make a concerted effort to directly support this ecosystem."
The second AIP on the ballot this week is AIP-219 titled, âApeDAO Partners with Kickback,â by BAYC member Mantis.Â
In AIP-219, Mantis explained that Cxmmunity, a gaming events company with a focus on improving participation of underserved communities in gaming, will be hosting a series of in real life âKickbackâ events this year and that they believe that the ApeCoin DAO should be a sponsor of these in real life events.
âPartnering with Cxmmunity exposes $APE and ApeDAO to the next generation of gamers entering web3,â Mantis wrote. âPartnering with Cxmmunity places ApeDAO in closer relations with accredited institutions and municipal governments that sponsor, oversee and regulate these events.â
In total, Mantis is asking the ApeCoin DAO to allocate $100,000 USD to their proposal.
The third AIP on the ballot at the ApeCoin DAO is AIP-232 titled âResubmission of Building Apeverse: A Multi-language Information Hub for the Ape Ecosystem,â by BAYC member ChrisL.Â
âThe creation of the multi-language information hub, Apeverse, is a move aiming at aggregating information dissemination and community engagement for the rapidly growing Ape ecosystem,â ChrisL wrote. âWith the expanding Ape community, it is crucial to have a platform that provides timely and accessible information on the latest updates, data, and activities within the ecosystem.â
Further in AIP-232, ChrisL said that Apeverse would be available in English, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. In total ChrisL is asking the ApeCoin DAO to allocate $135,000 USD to create and fund his Apeverse website.
The fourth and final AIP on the ballot this week is AIP-225 titled âApe Page - One place for everything about your Ape,â by BAYC member Nyxeros.
In their proposal, Nyexros explained that Ape Page would make it easier for ApeCoin DAO contributors who are active in the Yugaverse to be able to share their stories, and contributions in the space, with others.Â
âThatâs where Ape Page comes in,â Nyxeros explained. âConnect your wallet, and Ape Page automatically pulls together your BAYC/MAYC PFPs, Sewer Passes, Pets, Jenkins Licenses, ApeCoin Staking stats, wearables, derivatives, Discord Roles, PFP Lore, achievements (and more) into a unique website with a custom URL belonging to you and your ape.â
$Ape holders have until tomorrow night, 4/19, at 9 P.M. EST to cast their coins and vote on these four AIPs. ApeCoin DAO contributors can read the full proposals here: https://snapshot.org/#/apecoin.ethÂ
As the ApeCoin DAO votes on four AIPs this week, the community is also reviewing Working Group Zeroâs DAO governance proposal before it goes up for a vote in the coming weeks.Â
As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, the ApeCoin DAO voted to reject the Cartan Groupâs proposal to extend its administrative contract with the DAO last year. Following this vote, the community approved of the creation of Working Group Zero.Â
Part of Working Group Zeroâs mandate following its creation was to further decentralize the DAO where possible and suggest changes to the ApeCoin DAOâs AIP process.Â
Five days ago, WGO Steward Amplify posted AIP-239 titled âWorking Group Guidelines & The Governance Working Group Charterâ to the DAOâs Discourse channel.Â
âThe goal of this AIP is to operationalize the ApeCoin DAO through autonomous Working Groups, beginning with the Governance Working Group which will allow our community to continue the DAO approved governance process which allows for the suggestion, discussion, voting and implementation of proposals,â Amplify wrote. âThis will empower members of the DAO to make meaningful contributions and participate in facilitating governance operations, in order to further decentralize key functions of the DAO. Working Groups enable a sustainable infrastructure which will allow the DAO to operate efficiently while adapting to any challenges.â
In simple terms, the ApeCoin DAOâs previous administrator used to run the AIP process without community input; and if AIP-239 is passed, the Working Groups (which are made up of ApeCoin DAO Contributors) will oversee the proposal process going forward.
On a lighter note, letâs end this weekâs newsletter with something fun!
Forever Apesâ next free Yuga Labs playing cards claim is coming up on April 27th for $Ape holders.Â
In order to and get a deck of cards, $Ape holders need to have at least 50 unstaked $Ape in their wallets!
Take a look at some of the card art below:
Thank you so much for reading this weekâs edition of the ApeCoin DAO-N Low and be sure to follow the Bored Ape Gazette on Twitter to stay up to date with all things $Ape!
