APECOIN DAO-N Low #20
To The Bored,
Good evening and thank you for reading the twentieth edition of the Bored Ape Gazette’s ApeCoin DAO-N Low.
This May, may be, the biggest month in the history of the ApeCoin DAO. After the $Ape community voted in favor of a pair of Ape Improvement Proposals last week, the DAO is working towards the implementation of a new working group governance structure which many believe will lead to further decentralization of the DAO.
What this means is that ApeCoin DAO contributors will be taking over more of the day-to-day operations of the DAO,some contributors will be starting new roles this month, and the community will be voting to fill newly created positions this summer.
Along with the DAO’s new governance structure, the ApeCoin DAO is voting on an AIP that aims to” rug” the community, and Ledger and the DAO are giving away 1,000 $Ape branded hardware wallets!
With so much happening around the swamp, let's ape into the news and get to the DAO-N Low on the ApeCoin DAO.
To begin, the ApeCoin DAO voted in favor of a pair of AIPs that will have an impact on the DAO’s governance structure and the day to day $Ape operations.
The first AIP that the community approved of was AIP-239 titled, “Working Group Guidelines & The Governance Working Group Charter.”
The four major implications of AIP-239’s passing is: 1. The community will run the Ape Improvement Proposal process instead of an external DAO administrator. 2. There will be more positions to vote on during the ApeCoin DAO’s election seasons. 3. There will be more ways to get involved at the DAO such as various working groups. And, 4. Amplify will become the DAO’s first Working Group Steward and Red Vulkan will become the Secretary of $Ape.
“Working Groups enable many more opportunities for token holders to get meaningfully involved in the operations of our DAO,” Amplify tweeted. “While our AIP process is unchanged, we now have more channels and avenues to participate!”
The other AIP that the ApeCoin DAO passed last week was AIP-240 titled “Community Discourse Facilitators.”
What this AIP did was establish a new, community led, Discourse moderation team.
This three-person team will be responsible for “overseeing the proposal process, moderating discussions, enforcing rules, and promoting positive community engagement based on DAO-approved guidelines,” according to Ape Improvement Proposal-240.
As a result of AIP-240’s passing, the first member of the new Discourse team will be BAYC member and ApeCoin DAO Contributor Lost, AKA TheHodlrCollective. The two other Discourse Facilitator team members will be selected by the community in a DAO-wide vote later this month.
$Ape holders who are interested in running for one of the two open Facilitator team positions can nominate themselves now on the DAO’s Discourse page here: https://forum.apecoin.com/c/discourse-facilitator-elections/38
$Ape holders have until May 5th to nominate themselves for the Discourse Facilitator election. Take a look at the full timeline for the the Discourse Facilitator elections below:
The Discourse Facilitator election isn’t the only DAO-wide vote that’s coming up. The DAO will also be opening the window for $ape holders to nominate themselves for Special Council and Working Group Steward elections later this month.
“On May 3rd, expect an announcement on Discourse for the Special Council and Gov WG Steward Cycle Two elections to be held in June, for Terms starting July,” Amplify tweeted yesterday. Take a look at a timeline of DAO’s summer election season below:
While all this new governance and voting can seem overwhelming, it is important to note that nothing will be changing at the DAO for the average user. These AIPs do not impact the proposal process nor do they impact the voting system.
“There’s no change to the voting process,” Amplify previously told the Gazette. “There’s no change to the AIP process. The only thing that this AIP does change is that there’s more opportunity to get involved.”
As the ApeCoin DAO moves towards this new Working Group structure, the community is also voting on a new AIP this week that aims to rug the DAO with custom ApeCoin themed carpets!
AIP-215 titled “Eco-friendly ApeCoin Carpets,” is an ecosystem allocation proposal written by ApeCoinCarpetMan.
In his proposal, ApeCoinCarpetMan AKA Rich Class Décor explained that he makes NFT themed rugs and that he would like the DAO’s permission to make 500 $Ape themed rugs using the ApeCoin Logo. This AIP would not cost the DAO anything and ApeCoinCarpetMan said that he would sell the carpets exclusively in $Ape.
The window to vote on AIP-215 is currently open and $Ape holders have until Wednesday at 9 P.M .EST to cast their coins on this AIP.
$Ape holders can read ApeCoinCartpetMan’s full AIP here: https://forum.apecoin.com/t/aip-215-eco-friendly-apecoin-carpets/10987
Finally, the ApeCoin DAO recently teamed up with Ledger to teach the $Ape community about wallet security, and $Ape holders have the chance to win an $Ape branded Ledger hardware wallet.
$Ape holders have until tomorrow, May 3rd at 12 p.m. EST, to complete a short “Proof of Knowledge” quest and be entered in the drawing for a boring Ledger!
ApeCoin DAO contributors who are interested in taking the quest can do so here: https://quest.ledger.com/quests/apecoin-quest-keep-security-boring
Thank you so much for reading this week’s edition of the ApeCoin DAO-N Low and be sure to follow the Bored Ape Gazette on Twitter to stay up to date with all things $Ape!
