APECOIN DAO-N Low #22
To the Bored,
Good evening and thanks for reading the 22nd edition of the Bored Ape Gazette’s ApeCoin DAO-N Low newsletter!
We are in the middle of the ApeCoin DAO’s second election season, and things are anything but boring.
Last week, the community elected two longtime Bored Ape Yacht Club members to the newly formed Discourse Moderation team. Now, the community is getting to know the 21 candidates that are running for Special Council and the nine candidates that are running to become Working Group Stewards.
Without further ado, let's ape into the news and get the DAO-N low on the ApeCoin DAO!
To start, the first of three $Ape office elections concluded last week and the community elected longtime ApeCoin DAO contributors LogicallyCrypto and 12Gauge to its first-ever Discourse Facilitator Team, with each of them receiving 1.7 million $Ape votes.
Following their election, both ApeCoin Dao Contributors told the Gazette that they’re honored to have been elected and look forward to serving each member of this community.
When LogicallyCrypto and 12Gauge’s term begins in June, these two primates will be joined by former Working Group Zero Steward, HodlrCollective, and the three of them will make up the DAO's first community-led discourse moderation team.
This team will be responsible for overseeing the proposal process, moderating discussions, enforcing rules, and promoting positive community engagement based on DAO-approved guidelines, according to the DAO.
With one election down, the ApeCoin community has two more to go next month. Let's take a closer look at each of these races.
First, 21 ApeCoin DAO members threw their hats in the ring and are officially running to replace Yat Siu and Alexis Ohanian on the DAO’s Special Council. Take a look at the candidates below:
The Gazette reached out to every candidate and is working to interview all of them over the next two weeks.
As the $Ape holders get to know each candidate over the next couple of weeks, outgoing Special Council member, Yat Siu, gave the community an idea about the job of a Special Council member and what it means to hold $Ape office.
“The role of the Special Council is to act as stewards of @apecoin its purpose to serve the $Ape community with a mission to be the layer for community-led initiatives that drive culture forward into the #open #metaverse #web3,” Siu tweeted on May 7th. “The Special Council members role is that of a steward, we serve the community, we are not operators, there is no CEO, we are servants to the @apecoin DAO community.”
While the community gets to know the 21 candidates running for Special Council, another nine ApeCoin DAO members are running in the first ever Working Group Steward election. Take a look at the candidates below:
A Working Group Steward’s job at the DAO will include managing their Working Group Multisig, operational tasks, maintaining documents, organizing and approving initiatives, communicating with the Ape Foundation and DAO Secretary, approving budgets, executing their Working Group Charters, among other things, according to the DAO.
The Gazette reached out to the nine candidates and is working to interview all of them over the next two weeks.
Both the Special Council and Working Group Steward elections are on the same timeline.
From now until June 11th, the community will be able to ask the nominees questions on their candidate pages on the ApeCoin DAO’s Discourse website. Following this period, the community will vote and the top five vote getting nominees in each race will move on to the next round and officially become candidates. The DAO will then hold one more election from June 22-28 where the community will elect two new Special Council members and two Working Group Stewards.
Thank you so much for reading this week’s edition of the ApeCoin DAO-N Low and be sure to follow the Bored Ape Gazette on Twitter to stay up to date with all things $Ape!
Sincerely,
Kyle
