APECOIN DAO-N Low 25
To the Bored,
Good evening and thanks for reading the 25th edition of the Bored Ape Gazetteâs ApeCoin DAO-N Low newsletter.
After an exciting month of ApeCoin Special Council and Governance Working Group Steward campaigning and elections, things at the DAO are getting back to normal with process proposals and ecosystem allocation fund ideas back on the ballot!Â
While the ApeCoin DAOâs second election season may be over, things are still anything but boring around the swamp. The communityâs newly elected $Ape office holders are getting acclimated in their new positions, the DAOâs newly formed Ape Assembly is working on its structures, the DAO is working with the community to make a mission statement, and the community is voting on two new Ape Improvement Proposals this week!
With so much happening around the $Ape ecosystem, let's ape into the news and get the DAO-n low on the ApeCoin DAO!
To Begin, the $Ape community elected Waabam and CapetainTrippy as their new Special Council members and AllCityBAYC and TigerIsFine as its first two Governance Working Group Stewards on June 28th! The four $Apes started their terms in $Ape office on July 1st!
For newly elected Special Council members, Waabam and CapetainTrippy, their first few days in Ape office included onboarding, paperwork and reading through a backlog of 17 AIPs that piled up during this summerâs election season!
âMet the Ape Foundation team. Itâs a great team and Iâm really excited to work with them over the next year to push ApeCoin forward,â Special Council member Waabam told the Gazette last week. âWe actually have a backlog of AIPs to get through after the election put all AIP votes on hold for two weeks during the election. So, lots of work to do right off the bat!â
As Waabam and CapetainTrippy get to work on the backlog of AIPs, AllCityBAYC and TigerIsFine joined Amplify as the DAOâs first three Governance Working Group Stewards and the three of them are working to get the Ape Assembly up and running!
For those who are unfamiliar with the Ape Assembly, it's a governing body of highly active governance participants within the ApeCoin Ecosystem that was established as part of AIP 239 and controls a monthly budget of $10,000 USD.Â
To be part of the Ape Assembly, an ApeCoin DAO Contributor must either have a Discourse Trust Level 2+, or own 50,000+ $Ape, or have voted in at least 50% of proposal votes.
âThink of this as a small version of the broader ApeCoin DAO where you can be bold,â recently elected Governance Working Group Steward AllCityBAYC said during the groupâs second meeting.
Currently, the Ape Assembly is in the middle of determining how its leadership should be structured and who should lead this small version of the broader DAO.
The Ape Assembly will hold its third meeting in the ApeCoin DAO Discord channel tomorrow afternoon at 1 P.M. EST. $Apes who are interested in attending can do so here: https://discord.com/invite/apecoindao
As the Ape Assembly works to establish itself, ApeCoin DAO Contributor BadTeeth is working with the broader DAO to create an ApeCoin DAO Mission Statement.Â
âA good mission statement should clearly define the purpose and goals of an organization, providing a sense of direction and helping to unify the members of the organization around a common set of objectives,â BadTeeth wrote in a recent Discourse post asking for community input on the mission statement process. âTogether we will finalize a mission statement that will serve as a NorthStar for the DAO. AIP-256 empowers the DAO to vote on a final mission statement from 8 different community submitted and selected options.â
The window for ApeCoin DAO Contributors to submit a proposed mission statement is open and $Apes have until July 13th at 1 P.M. EST to pitch their preferred mission statement to the DAO.
Apes who would like to propose a mission statement can do so here: https://forum.apecoin.com/t/aip-256-apecoin-dao-mission-statement-request-for-submissions/15797
Along with being asked to help create a mission statement, the ApeCoin DAO is also voting on two Ape Improvement Proposals this week.
The first AIP on the ballot this week is AIP -255 titled "$Ape x Innovation: Expanding the $Ape Universe,â by NFTxExplore.
In AIP-255, NFTxExplore explains that she wants to set up an $Ape Hackathon even in Moldova.
âWe want to amplify ApeCoin DAOâs mission to use web3 for innovation and to spread $Ape reach,â NFTxExplore wrote. âBy onboarding wider global communities into web3, we will fuel innovation, collaboration, and creativity so that the DAO can have a broader impact.â
This AIP if passed will build upon NFTxExploreâs previous hackathon work in the region.Â
In total, NFTxExplore is asking the ApeCoin DAO to allocate $28,400 USD worth of $Ape to fund this hackathon.
The second AIP on the ballot this week is AIP-258 titled âProposal for Creating a Forum Section for AIP Authors Approved by ApeCoin DAO,â by DoberDanny.
In this AIP, DoberDanny explained that he wants to make a new category on the ApeCoin DAOâs Discourse page where approved initiatives can update the community on their progress and authors can connect with one another.
âThe proposal suggests adding a new category to the Ape Coin DAO forum, aiming to create an ecosystem that enhances AIP authorsâ productivity, enables DAO contributors to join the AIP team, and improves transparency for DAO members,â DoberDanny wrote.
AIP-258 will not cost the ApeCoin DAO anything and it can be implemented within 1-3 days, according to DoberDanny.
The window to vote on these two AIPs is currently open and ApeCoin DAO Contributors have until tomorrow night at 9 P.M. EST to cast their coins!
Thank you so much for reading this weekâs edition of the ApeCoin DAO-N Low and be sure to follow the Bored Ape Gazette on Twitter to stay up to date with all things $Ape!
Sincerely,
Kyle
