APECOIN DAO-N Low #26
To the Bored,
Good evening and thanks for reading the 26th edition of Bored Ape Gazetteās ApeCoin DAO-N Low newsletter!
While it feels like the DAO has slowed down since the Special Council and Working Group Steward elections earlier this summer, things are still moving at the speed of $Ape!
Last week, the ApeCoin DAO attended ETH Global where it funded four projects that will be a boon to the ApeCoin ecosystem. Further, the community has been working on creating a mission statement that will help guide the DAO into the future.
Ā Along with these important initiatives, there is also a new ThankApe contest happing around the swamp that aims reward builders and Yuga Labs made an ApeFest announcement about $Ape that was anything but boring.
With so much happening around the ApeCoin ecosystem, lets $Ape in and get the DAO-N low on the ApeCoin DAO.
To Begin, After the ApeCoin DAO approved Ape Improvement Proposal 230 titled. Ā āI donāt hate apes, I just want them to fund public goods!ā Ā by former Special Council member Maaria Bajwa in April, she and current Special Council members VeraTheApe, and BoredApeG represented the DAO at ETH Global Paris last week!
During the event, 34 projects presented their ideas to the ApeCoin DAO during a hackathon event and the ApeCoin DAO decided to fund four of them, according to VeraTheApe.
āIt was awe inspiring to witness first-hand the opportunities for @ApeCoin development,ā BoredApeG tweeted after the event. āCongratulations to all the @ETHGlobal participants, and a special merci beaucoup to those who chose to spend their weekend to specifically build for ApeCoin!ā
As the ApeCoin DAO made its presence known in the broader Eth ecosystem during ETH Global, ApeCoin DAO Contributor BadTeeth has been working with members of the community as they continue to create a mission statement for the DAO that will hopefully guide the coin into the metaverse and beyond!
Earlier today, BadTeeth and several ApeCoin DAO contributors met to workshop their ideas as they prepare to present eight possible mission statements to the DAO for a community vote next month!
āOver half of the authors came through,ā BadTeeth said. āShared a productive discussion and constructive criticism aimed to help refine statements ahead of the deadline Thursday at midnight. After that a week of voting to narrow from 13 to 8, then @apecoin space to share finalistsā statements.ā
The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to follow BadTeeth, and the communityās mission statements work and will let you know when the authors finalize their possible mission statements later this week. ApeCoin DAO Contributors can get involved with the mission statement process by checking out the Discourse page here: https://forum.apecoin.com/t/aip-256-apecoin-dao-mission-statement-request-for-submissions/15797/32?u=badteeth
As the community continues to work on a mission statement, ThankApe is on a mission of its own to reward builders in the $Ape ecosystem with their new builder's grant contest; and 10K $Ape in prizes is up for grabs!
Last week, ThankApe, an ApeCoin DAO sponsored project that aims to reward active contributors in the ApeCoin ecosystem, announced its second $Ape centric contest and invited $Ape builders from across the metaverse to enter!
Every builder in the $Ape ecosystem is invited to enter the contest as long as their creation is ātechnical infrastructure (built w/code) - Built in explicit support of ApeCoin before July 15th - previous AIPs eligible if received < 5000 APE grant - No rewards for gambling, drugs, or categories that cannot be promoted by the DAO,ā according to ThankApe.
In total, ThankApe will award 50 $Ape builders 42 $Ape each, five $Ape builders 420 $Ape each, and another five $Ape builders with 1069 $Ape each.
To enter ThankApeās Builder contest, creators must write a Twitter thread about what they have built and how it will benefit the community before the July 31st deadline and hashtag their post with #ApeCoinBuilder, #ApeCoinBuilderGrants, and @ThankApe.
While ThankApe rewards builders in the $Ape ecosystem for their contributions, the largest ApeCoin builder, Yuga Labs, announced that they would be accepting $Ape as a merchandise payment option during ApeFest 2023!
During a Twitter Space with the BAYC Community Council last Thursday, Yuga Labsā Digital and social media Director, Ian De Borja and Yuga Labsā Community lead Spicy Tinaa confirmed that $Ape will be an accepted payment option for merch during ApeFest this year!
Thank you so much for reading this weekās edition of the ApeCoin DAO-N Low and be sure to follow the Bored Ape Gazette on Twitter to stay up to date with all things $Ape!
Sincerely,
Kyle
