To the Bored,
Good evening and thanks for readingĀ the Bored Ape Gazetteās third edition of the āApeCoin DAO-N Low.āĀ
To begin, there have been no new Ape Improvement Proposals on the ballot over the past two weeks. But donāt let this lack of Proposals on the ballot fool you, there is a lot happening at the DAO!
First, there are currently four ApeCoin marketplace ideas being developedĀ and discussed by the community and the Board.Ā
In the Bored Ape Gazetteās second edition ofĀ āApeCoin DAO-N Low,ā the Gazette summarized the four marketplace proposals and providedĀ an overview of each marketplaceās pitch.Ā
Since that time, the Bored Ape Gazette has interviewed the founders of āX Marketplaceā and āSnag Solutionsā and found out more about their ideas.
During those interviews, the Gazette asked each founder to sum up their proposed marketplace in two sentences. Take a look at the foundersā replies below:
X Marketplace: āNo pitch is required because itās already built.Ā Ā We encourage everyone to try it out themselves atĀ apecoin.x.xyzĀ and let us know what they think.ā
Snag Solutions: āWe adhere to Web3 values of decentralization and interoperability, are from the community, and are the cheapest proposal that still drives value to the DAO.ā
The Bored Ape Gazette also reached out to Rarible and Magic Eden via Twitter for comment regarding their ApeCoin marketplace proposals but did not yet hear back from them.Ā
The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to cover these four marketplace proposals as they make their way through the DAO process.Ā
Outside of the four marketplace proposals, there are currently 22 AIP drafts, 14 AIP ideas, and lots of conversations about ways to improve voter turnout and utilize the ApeCoin DAOās 470,000,000 $Ape Treasury.Ā
To cover all these drafts, the Bored Ape Gazette will add a new section to its website titled āApeCoin News.ā In this section, the Gazette will write summary reports on the various AIP drafts before they make their way onto the ballot.Ā
The goal of these summary reports will be to inform the community aboutĀ proposals and give $Ape holders the chance to learn more about an AIP before the idea goes up for a vote! Check out the Gazetteās website for its first AIP draft report later tonight!
As the $Ape community explored various ideas and projects to fund over the last two weeks, Horizen Labs gave the community an update on the user interface for its staking system.Ā
Last week, Horizen Labs took to Twitter and shared a 30 second video highlighting the ApeCoin staking system.Ā
In the video, Horizen Labs showed the community three different slides that detailed the various sections of the staking system.
In the first part of the video, Horizen Labs reminded the community that there will be four different pools where $Ape holders can stake their $Ape depending on what NFTs they own.
In the next part of the video, Horizen Labs showed the community what itsā āApeStakeā dashboard will look like.
āProvided is an overview of all your staked positions,ā the mock image stated. āEnter into new positions and manage existing positions by depositing, withdrawing, and claiming rewards.ā
Then in the final part of the video, Horizen Labs announced that it was building market tools into the staking system that will give users the ability to āgain insight with wallet transparency.āĀ
āUse ApeStake.io Market Tools search feature to see whether a BAYC, MAYC, or BAKC is committed to a staking position, how much $Ape is staked with it, and the associated wallet address,ā the mock image stated.Ā
After Horizen Labsā update, the companyās Co-Founder and President, Dean Steinbeck (who is also an ApeCoin Board Member) took to Twitter and said that he will be releasing more information on staking later this week.
The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to follow the creation of the staking system and will share more information when available.
As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, The Ape foundation announced that Horzien Labs was selected to create the staking system for the ApeCoin DAO on July 22nd.Ā
At the time, Horizen Labs and Steinbeck said that ApeCoin staking will begin this Autumn. This means that staking could begin any time between Friday September 23rd and Wednesday December 21st, 2022.Ā
As the $Ape community waits for more information regarding the staking system, one of the first major launch contributor token unlocks is set to happen later this month.
Back at the inception of $Ape and the ApeCoin DAO on March 17th, 2022, 14% or 140,000,000 $Ape were set aside for āthe companies and people that helped make this project a reality,ā according to the DAOās About section.
10,000,000 $Ape were given to these launch contributors up front and the rest of the $Ape was placed into a lockup schedule.
This first unlock of 25,000,000 $Ape is set to happen on or about September 17th, 2022, based on the DAOās launch date and the launch contributors lock up schedule.Ā
The Bored Ape Gazette will be monitoring this first unlock and will work to find out more about it as the date approaches.Ā
The Bored Ape Gazette will continue to follow the ApeCoin DAO and will keep you posted on all things $Ape.
Sincerely,
Kyle
