ApeCoin DAO-N Low #31
To the Bored,
Good evening and thanks for reading the 31st edition of the Bored Ape Gazetteās ApeCoin DAO-N Low Newsletter!
Spooky season is a busy season around Yugaverse and thatās especially true at the DAO. In the past two weeks, the community has passed a major budget, approved two different Ape funded NFT collection proposals, and awarded 20 $Ape Merchants with grants! On top of all that, the DAO is voting on five Ape Improvement Proposals this week!
With so much happening across the ApeCoin DAO, lets ape into the news and get the DAO-N low on the $Ape ecosystem!
To begin, the ApeCoin voted in favor of the DAOās Governance Working Groupās six-month $488,600 USD budget with 9.8 million $Ape cast in favor of the AIP.
āTough to put all of this in words right now to be honestly,ā Governance Working Group Steward AllCityBAYC told the Gazette after it passed. āIām really quite proud. We put everything we had into this proposal, and it wasnāt easy finding the right balance combining the Working Groupās originally written scope with this fresh spin on Governance. One more, which will be important: Iām also especially proud of the strategy that went into our campaign after the Machi vote. Itās a much different approach playing from behind, and even more-so from that far backā¦ We executed flawlessly and the support from our friends and community who stepped up did the rest. We wouldnāt be here without them.ā
For those who are unfamiliar with the Governance Working Group or where they came from, the ApeCoin DAO adopted a Working Group Structure earlier this year after the DAO voted to end its relationship with its original administrator, the Cartan Group, in January 2023. Since then, the DAO has voted to have the Governance Working Group handle its forward-facing operations while the DAOās new administrator, WebSlinger, handles the back end.
The majority of this budget will go towards paying the seven-person Governance Working Group team (Amplify, ALL CITY, Tiger, Lost, 12GAUGE, CryptoLogically and Vulkan) that handles the Ape Improvement Proposal Process and the ApeCoin DAOās front end operations like Discourse and Discord. The rest of the funds will go towards operational tools, professional services, research and development, community committees, according to the proposal. Take a look at the full budget below:
Along with approving the DAOās Governance Working Groupās budget last week, the DAO also voted to fund Former ApeCoin DAO Special Council Member and Animoca Brands Chairman, Yat Siuās sister DAO art collection proposal and ApeCoin Whale, MachiBigBrotherās Digital Art Movement Collection to the tunes of 750,000 $Ape and 11 million $Ape respectively!
With the funds, Siuās sister DAO will purchase 8 Bored Apes, 12 Mutant Apes, 15 BAKC Dogs, 15 Mocaverse Mocas, 15 Cool Cats, 15 World of Women, 12 Pudgy Penguins, 12 Kodas, 15 Otherdeeds, and 20 Sandbox land plots and then the $Ape holding community will decide whatās next for the assets!Ā
As Siuās sister DAO makes its purchases, MachiBigBrother and his team of tastemakers will be launching the DAM token soon and $Ape holders will have the chance to earn DAM coins and participate in the DAM DAO by locking up their $Ape. From there, MachiBigBrother, his team of tastemakers, and DAM token holders will build a collection of Yuga Assets and other notable NFTs and work to have them displayed in museums, schools, and galleries.
As the DAO has been busy passing AIPs and budgets, ThankApe, an ApeCoin DAO sponsored project that aims to reward active contributors in the ApeCoin ecosystem, handed out 20 grants worth 25,000 $Ape total to various Merchants in the $Ape ecosystem last week who accept $Ape as a payment option courtesy of the ApeCoin DAO!
āCongrats to the winners of our @ApeCoinMerchants Contest,ā ThankApe tweeted today. āHuge thanks to all our brilliant Merchants for submitting your entries. We're thrilled to have received 100+ entries which collectively drew 3,400+ votes across 3 categories! Let's use ApeCoin payments together.ā
On the heels of all these proposals being passed andĀ grants being awarded, the ApeCoin DAO community is set to vote on five AIPs this week.Ā
The first proposal on the ballot this week is AIP-278 titled āApproved Educators, Publish Your Course With Us,ā by ApeCoin DAO Contributor and Approved Educators Founder, GuyMadden.
In AIP -278, GuyMadden explained that he and his team are building a token-gated platform dubbed Approved Educators, where content creators can publish courses, and participants can learn about Web3 while earning soul-bound NFTs to represent proof of knowledge. In total, GuyMadden asked the DAO to allocate $50,000 USD worth of $Ape to the project so he and his team can finish the platform and integrate $Ape as payment option.
The next proposal on the ballot this week is AIP-301 titled ā[Eesee-ApeCoin] A Collaboration for Community Engagement and NFT Accessibility,ā by ApeCoin DAO contributor and Eesee CEO, Vova.eesee.
In AIP-301, Vova wrote that he would like to get more users involved with the ApeCoin DAO by gamifying participation and rewarding people to learn about $Ape! āBy integrating $APE into Eeseeās platform, we aim to create an environment that encourages ApeCoin holders to participate more actively in governance and to interact more frequently within ApeCoin sub-communities, Vova wrote. āThis aligns with ApeCoin DAOās mission of creating a decentralized community where every member has a voice. This partnership is a strategic move towards a more inclusive and participatory NFT ecosystem.ā AIP-301 will not cost the DAO anything monetarily and Eesee is hoping to establish a formal partnership with the DAO.
The third AIP on the ballot this week is AIP-308 titled āEstablish an Ombud for the DAO,ā by ApeCoin DAO Contributor ApeForLife.
In AIP-308, ApeForLife asks the DAO to establish a new Ombud position who will handle disputes within the $Ape community, formal complaints against DAO elected officials, and adjudicate possible bans from the DAO. Further ApeForLife asks the ApeCoin DAO to appoint him as the communityās first Ombud for 24 months and receive a monthly payment of $5,000 USD in $Ape.
The fourth proposal on the ballot this week is AIP-314 titled āBeyond the NFT: NFT Lab Magazineās Plan for Empowering ApeCoinās Global Community,ā by ApeCoin DAO Contributor and Elite Apes/ NFT Labs Magazine Founder, JasonJape.
āThis proposal aims at promoting Apecoin and Yuga ecosystem news and projects to the existing audience base and beyond,ā JasonJape wrote. āOur strategy includes generating content that spotlights community projects, ApeCoin DAO news, Yuga projects and approved AIPs, thus enriching the ApeCoin ecosystem and drive mass adoptions, potentially increase the $Apecoin and Yuga collections value.ā
In AIP-314, JasonJape asked the DAO to allocate $92,000 USD to NFT Labs magazine so the publication can expand its physical presence in Asia and also create an online version of the monthly magazine!Ā
The fifth and final proposal on the ballot this week is AIP-319 titled āCreate the Sporting League of the Otherside (NFTeams) + 5,000 free 3D Player Mint,ā by ApeCoin DAO Contributor and NFTeams Founder Steve.
āThis proposal aims to move the NFTeams ecosystem to an $Apecoin standard, while also giving 5,000 Player NFTs as a free mint to $APEcoin and BAYC ecosystem holders (via mini-games),ā Steve explained. āThe goal of NFTeams is to create the sporting leagues of the Otherside.ā
In total, Steve and NFTeams are asking the DAO to allocate $500,000 USD in $Ape for a gamified mint of player NFTs and the development of its sports game.
The window to vote on all five of these AIPs is currently open and ApeCoin DAO contributors have until tomorrow night at 9 P.M. EST to cast their coins.Ā
Thank you so much for reading this weekās edition of the ApeCoin DAO-N Low and be sure to follow the Bored Ape Gazette on Twitter to stay up to date with all things $Ape!
