ApeCoin DAO-N Low #38
To the Bored,
Good evening and thank you for reading the 38th edition of the Bored Ape Gazette’s ApeCoin DAO-N Low newsletter.
It’s hard to believe, but 2024 is already here, and things are anything but boring in the $Ape ecosystem. Eight recently elected $Ape officials have started their terms, a new Ape Improvement Proposal voting cadence began at the ApeCoin DAO, and the deadline for builders to submit their proposals to the DAO’s ApeChain Request For Proposal is this week!
With so much happening around the $Ape ecosystem lets $Ape into the news and get the down low on the ApeCoin DAO!
To begin, the ApeCoin DAO’s recently eleted officals, Special Council Members Hazel, BoredApeG, and Airvey, The DAO’s new Governce Working Group Steward Bigbull, the DAO’s first two Metaverse Working Group Stewards Dim and David Crypto, and the DAO’s first two Marketing and Communications Working Group Stewards, Popil and Linstro, took started their terms on January 1st!
So far the eight newly elected officials have been busy onboarding to their new roles, having meetings the incumbent DAO officials, and planning what 2024 will look like in the $Ape ecosystem.
“In sync and united across working groups, we ride in weekly/ monthly/ quarterly cadence,” MarComms Steward Linstro recently tweeted. “Allow for adaptation, evolution, and room for growth - while having a clear vision for what our tent poles should be. Marcomms is a working group that is intertwined with all the others and a multitude of aspects. Additionally, we must embark on a massive coordination with all entities in our ecosystem to be effective, efficient, and optimize efforts. Many more groups and individuals to speak to, we are getting there. This is being done step-by-step: timeline, coordination, strategy, planning, execution.”
As the DAO’s governance takes shape, the broader $Ape community is reshaping itself for the recently updated bi-weekly AIP voting cadence.
As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, the $Ape community voted to change the DAO’s voting cadence from every week to every other week and to expand the window for $Apes to vote on December 27th, 2023 when it approved AIP-362.
This is the first week of the DAO voting on this biweekly cadence. This means that $Ape holders will have until Next Wednesday January 18th to cast their coins on the two AIPs on the ballot this week.
By changing the voting cadence and expanding the window to vote, AIP-362 stated that the DAO will be able to reduce overhead costs associated with the AIP process, give $Apes time to think about the proposals, and make it easier for $Apes across the globe to participate in the DAO’s governance process.
As $Apes participate in the DAO’s updated voting process the DAO’s Administrator is in the middle of holding a Request For Proposal as it looks for builders in the crypto space to build the DAO an ApeChain!
On December 28th, the ApeCoin DAO’s Administrator, WebSlinger, announced that was holding an RFP and that everyone who wants to build ApeChain for the DAO can ape in with an idea between then and this Thursday, January 11th, 2024.
“The ApeCoin community seeks a proponent to build ApeChain, a dedicated ApeCoin blockchain that scales $APE and supports the growth of the ApeCoin ecosystem,” WebSlinger wrote. “Over community discussions in recent weeks and months, it has become clear that the ApeCoin community would like a Request for Proposals (RFP) process for ApeChain. In order to assist with this process, the APE Foundation is announcing this RFP to select a proponent to build ApeChain.”
Builders who are interested in submitting an idea to the DAO’s RFP prcess can do so here: https://forum.apecoin.com/t/request-for-proposals-apechain/21139
