ApeCoin DAO-N Low #43
To the Bored,
Good evening and thank you for reading the 43rd edition of the Bored Ape Gazetteās ApeCoin DAO-n Low newsletter.
Today is the last day of āApe-ril,ā and things have been anything but boring across the ApeCoin ecosystem.Ā
Horizen Labs is getting ready to launch Apechain, a new āDAO internā joined the team, and Special Council Member Captain Trippy announced that he will not be seeking reelection this summer as the window for $Apes to nominate themselves for ApeCoin office opens tomorrow.
With so much happening across the $Ape ecosystem, let's ape into the news and get the DAO-n low on the ApeCoin DAO.
To begin, two months after the ApeCoin DAO selected Horizen Labs, Offchain Labs, and the Arbitrum team to develop its ApeChain as part of Arbitrumās Orbit chains, the ApeCoin DAO hosted a Space with the Horizen Labs team.Ā
During the Space, Horizen Labsā VP of Ecosystem Growth, Blockchainzilla AKA Spencer, told $Apes that ApeChain will be a āgaming first but not a gaming only chainā that will feel like a theme park where everything is powered by $Ape. āPairs are in ApeCoin, incentives are in ApeCoin. We are trying to get on games, applications, protocols that are all using ApeCoin in their economies,ā he said.
Along with everything running on $Ape, ApeChain will also lead to many airdrops, revenue shares, and new utility for $Ape holders, according to Horizen Labs.Ā
āI think we are going to find a lot of projects that are coming on here, and the way that we are designing the incentive program around it, are going to open up a lot of opportunities but nothing is set in stone,ā Spencer said.
Along with telling $Apes about what ApeChain will be like, Spencer also explained that the team is developing a Omnichain Fungible Token (OFT) wrapper with Layer Zero that will transform $Ape from a simple ERC-20 token into a currency that will power its own ecosystem and let holders explore $Ape across various chains.
āOnce the OFT wrap is on top of ApeCoin, it's going to make it really easy to move it throughout different ecosystems. So if you go and you look at the Layer Zero network, it includes tons of networks,ā he said. āItās kind of like the modernization of ApeCoin and bringing all of that out. Which is super exciting and its going to position ApeCoin kind of uniquely."
As Horizen Labs, Offchain Labs, and the Arbitrum team continue to work on ApeChain, the ApeCoin DAO hired a new 'intern' to bring a degen edge to the typically all-business ApeCoin Twitter account, in between coffee runs for Special Council member, Captain Trippy.
Last weekend, the Apecoin DAOās new intern entertained the community with their shitposts and memes shocking many Bored Apes who have never seen the flipside of ApeCoin.
āThe intern may still get fired, weāll have to see how it goes,ā Captain Trippy told the Gazette. āBut until then, expect to see more presence from the ApeCoin community in more of the places you would expect, and maybe some you donāt.ā
Speaking of Special Council member Captain Trippy, he recently announced that he will not be running for re-election this summer
āI am thankful for the time Iāve had in this role and while I wonāt be running for SC in this upcoming election, I will still be around and back in the capacity of community member, along side you, and still working to make this web3 ecosystem a place for the next generation of dreamers, builders and doers,ā he wrote.
As the DAO says goodbye to Captain Trippy, $Apes can start to nominate themselves for the 2 Special Council Members seats, 2 Governance Working Group Stewards seats, 1 Marketing & Communications WG Steward seat, 1 Metaverse WG Steward seat, and 2 Web 3 Development WG Stewards seats that will be up for grabs during the DAOās 2024 summer election beginning tomorrow.
Thank you so much for reading this weekās edition of the ApeCoin DAO-N Low and be sure to follow the Bored Ape Gazette on Twitter to stay up to date with all things $Ape!
Best,
Kyle
