To the Bored,
Good evening, and thanks for taking the time to read the Gazetteās second edition of āKeeping Tabs On The Lab.ā
Itās been a busy two weeks around the Yuga Labs ecosystem, starting with an Ape Improvement Proposal being passed at the ApeCoin DAO.
AIP-64, titled āAPE Coin Festival - Bringing NFT Communities Together,ā was approved by the ApeCoin DAO with a final vote count of 416,000 $Ape votes in favor and 6,300 $Ape votes against.Ā
The aim of this proposal was to determine whether the community believed that the idea of an ApeCoin conference was feasible and a good decision for the DAO. This proposal was NOT pitching or planning an event, according to the AIP.Ā
Following AIP-64ās approval, the Bored Ape Gazette reached out to the proposalās author, HopiumLabs, and asked him whatās next:
āNow the hard work of reaching out to hundreds of sponsors, organizers, and NFT project owners that were present at NFT-NYC begins,ā HopiumLabs said.
As AIP-64 passed, AIP-78, āApe Worlds - Create Ape-themed games on the blockchain, no code required,ā made its way onto this weekās ApeCoin ballot.
āApe Worlds is a no-code game experience using the Vy Worlds engine,ā the proposalās author, Fridayyy, wrote in the AIP. āIn Ape Worlds, any BAYC fan can take Ape-themed game-building blocks and create their own games. This would allow millions of fans to create and play games together in the BAYC universe and use ApeCoin as the currency of choice for Ape Worlds.ā
At the time of this newsletters publication, the community appears to be overwhelming against the proposal.
$Ape holders have until Wednesday, August 17th, at 9 P.M. EST to vote on AIP-78.Ā
While the ApeCoin DAO had a lot of activity, Yuga labs also had an eventful couple of weeks.Ā
On August 8th, the former Meebits DAO General Manager, DannyGreene.Eth, announced that he had joined the Yuga Labs team.
āI'm so excited to join a growing team of creatives, producers, and engineers at @yugalabs as Brand Lead for @MeebitsNFTs,ā Greene tweeted in an eight-part thread. āFor the last 7 months, Iāve lived and breathed Meebits as the General Manager of the @MeebitsDAO and truly love this collection and community.ā
As Yuga Labs welcomed Greene to the team, Yuga Labs also released its new IP Rights Agreements for the CryptoPunks and Meebits NFT projects.
āPunks, the IP rights agreement for the CryptoPunks collection is now live and can be found atĀ https://licenseterms.cryptopunks.app,ā Yuga Labs tweeted from the CrpytoPunks account. āThis moment is something weāve promised from day one and weāre looking forward to seeing what the community builds, using the terms as guidance.ā
In the IP Rights Agreements, Yuga Labs defined ownership in four parts.Ā
1.Ā Ā Ā Ā You Own Your CryptoPunk NFT.
2.Ā Ā Ā Ā We Own (but License to You) the IP in Your CryptoPunk Art.
3.Ā Ā Ā Ā You Own the IP in Your Derivative CryptoPunk Works
4.Ā Ā Ā Ā Utility

As Yuga Labs was making moves, the BAYCĀ saw one of the largest deals in club history take place.
On August 9th, BAYC member Lior.Eth acquired Mutant Ape #30005, AKA the Trippy Mega Mutant. Lior told the Gazette that he paid about 2300 Eth or $3,910,000 USD worth of Ethereum and NFTs.
While thatĀ major trade went down inside the club, a couple of brands and companies made waves outside the swamp.
Major League Soccer announced that it signed the first ever digital athlete, Bored Ape #6045.Ā
āWeāre excited to announce that the League has signed Striker, a Bored Ape, to a professional contract, making him the first digital athlete to sign with a professional sports organization,ā the MLS posted on Instagram along with a photo of the primate.Ā
Additionally, Happy Dad hard seltzer released its highly anticipated banana flavored drink that featured the brandās Bored Ape on the can.
Further, NFT project 10KTF revealed that it is powered by $ApeCoin and distributed 714,405 $Ape to its holders. 10KTF also recently did a combat crate sale in $Ape.
Finally, the BAYC eclipsed the one million follower mark on Twitter and is hosting a Twitter space to celebrate tonight at 9 P.M. EST. The Bored Ape Gazette will be in attendance and will be bringing the community a full recap of the event.
Stay tuned for next weekās newsletter, āThe ApeCoin DAO-N LOW,ā where the Gazette will take a closer look at the ApeCoin DAO.
