To the Bored,
Good evening and thanks for reading the twenty-first edition of the Bored Ape Gazetteās Keeping Tabs On the Lab newsletter!
Summer is quickly approaching, and things are getting hot around the swamp! From the ApeCoin DAOās upcoming Special Council elections to Legends of the Mara teases and updates; itās safe to say that this summer will be one of the hottest on record!
But before we get into all that, letās begin this weekās newsletter by wishing the Meebits project a belated happy birthday!
Itās hard to believe, but the Mebits project turned two-years-old last week and to celebrate, Yuga Labs brought the voxels to life and now everyone is Meebin!
āItās our 2nd birthday,ā Yuga Labs tweeted from its Meebits Twitter account on May 3rd. āMood: HYPE. And a little DAZED. And kinda SPICY, tbh. MB1.2 is here, giving you a new way to bring your PFP to life.ā
With this MB1.2 update, which is part of Yuga Labsā broader Meebits roadmap, holders can now express one of thirteen different moods their voxel characters on chain!
āMood: ZOOMIN over to @opensea,ā Yuga Labs tweeted from its Meebits Twitter account along with gif of a flying voxel last week. āMeebs can now save their Mood via a gasless signature on https://turnon.meebits.app. Your saved Mood will be displayed on marketplaces with HTML-enabled viewers (without altering metadata).ā
As the Meebits project is moving and grooving through its roadmap, the ApeCoin DAO is getting ready for a busy couple months of Special Council elections!

So far, the Gazette can confirm that at least one of the two Special Council Members who seats are up for grabs this summer will not seek reelection.
Special Council Member Yat Siu told the Gazette over the weekend that he will not run for a second term.
āI am vacating the spot for others which I think is appropriate,ā Siu told the Gazette on Sunday May 7th. āMy role was to assist in onboarding the new SC members to transition in some new blood but will always be there to serve in other ways!ā
Following the Gazetteās article, Siu took to Twitter and shared a nine-part Tweet thread on his time on the Special Council reiterated his continued support for the DAO and the broader Yugaverse.
āI am proud and feel blessed to have played a role and remain your humble @apecoin servant, Siu tweeted. ā@Animocabrands @MocaverseNFT will continue to support and assist the $pe community in the best possible way we can as we continue to build products and services for the #Ape community! The framework and idea of composing and constructing democratic systems together even if without the same level of understanding is refreshing, educational and will play a pivotal role in restoring faith in the power of a true democratic system. @Apecoin
DAO is a role model to other #DAOs as such we should adhere to the spirit of its democratic foundation & set the right example. The time has come for new Special Council members to join & bring new ideas but know that $Ape community can always count on my support!ā
The Bored Ape Gazette has also reached out to the other ApeCoin Special Council Member whose seat is up for election this summer, Alexis Ohanian, and asked him if he planned to run for a second term. At the time of this newsletterās publication, the Gazette has not heard back from him.
As the ApeCoin DAOās Special Council Election season heats up, Yuga Labs has been sharing a lot of heat about its upcoming Legends of The Mara game and teasing new information on its mechanics . Letās go over what we know so far about this 2D experience.
At the time of this newsletterās publication, Yuga Labs has announced that each Otherdeed holder AKA Voyager is able to claim one Vessel per Otherdeed they hold.
These Vessels, which can either be Hunter, Farmer, or Enchanter type, will undergo an incubation period on a Voyagerās Otherdeed when the game begins. Following this incubation period, the Vessels will become Maras and these Maras will be able to work on Voyagers Otherdeeds.
An Otherdeeds environment tier will determine how many Maras a Voyager can have working on their land at any given time. Further, an Otherdeeds sediment tier will determine the production level of what the Maras can harvest on the land.
