Keeping Tabs On The Lab #23
To the Bored,
Good evening and thanks for reading the 23rd edition of the Bored Ape Gazette’s Keeping Tabs on The Lab newsletter.
Its “soon season” around the swamp, and Bored Ape Yacht Club members, along with the broader Yugaverse, have a lot of things to look forward to such as Ape Fest 2023, Yuga Labs’ next two video games, and the ApeCoin DAO’s second election season!
With so much coming soon, let's ape into the news and keep tabs on the lab!
To begin, Yuga Labs reiterated that there will be an Ape Fest 2023 and that the community will find out soon enough, during the BAYC Community Council’s Twitter Space on May 31st.
“We just want to confirm with folks it’s not going to be in July,” Yuga Labs’ Digital and social media Director, Ian De Borja said. “It will be this year, but it will not be in July. So, people will have time to plan for things. We’re going to update folks as soon as we can. There will be time.”
While we still do not know much about Ape Fest 2023, we do have more information and details on Yuga Labs’ two upcoming games that are set to come out soon.
The first of two games that will be coming to the swamp soon will be Journey To Ev0 2 that is set to begin this month, according to the BAYC’s MDvMM website.
While nothing is confirmed, many in the community believe that the Journey To Ev0 2 roadmap on the MDvMM website is the Forge game that’s teased as part of the HV-MTL storyline.
“In HV-MTL Forge: build and customize a workshop that prepares your HVs for their evolution," the BAYC wrote. “Show off your creations to climb the leaderboard and unlock special abilities. Take risks and face the dangers of the rift to discover blueprints, gather materials, and craft upgrades.”
While there is still a lot we do not know about the HV-MTL Forge game, we do know that HV-MTL NFTs are dynamic and that holders' choices will impact the mechs.
“Your HV is a unique, dynamic NFT that evolves based on your decisions, so don't fuck this up," the club explained. “There are eight different HV-Types and countless different trait combinations. Each has its own skills, personality, and roles, but they're all designed to transform.”
While we do not know what kind of game the HV-MTL Forge will be, we do know that it will be different from DooKey Dash, according to BAYC Co-Founder Garga.
“Gonna be a different game this time,” Garga wrote. “Dunno if the best at DooKey Dash are going to be the best at forge…”
As HV-MTL holders prepare to Journey to Ev02 soon, Voyagers are getting ready to defend the Otherside in Yuga Labs’ Legends of the Mara game later this summer.
Over the last few weeks, Yuga Labs has released updates and more information regarding its highly anticipated Legends of The Mara game.
So far the big things that we know about this 2D gaming experience are that every Voyager can claim one Vessel per Otherdeed they own, Voyagers Otherdeeds will act as boards during the game, Voyagers will need to choose which type of Vessel (Farmer, Hunter, or Enchanter) to “Nest” on their land first, and we recently learned that Yuga Labs’ various NFT projects along with other “ally NFT” projects will be able to break on through to the Otherside during the Legends of the Mara game.
“You won’t be going into battle alone, Voyagers, Yuga Labs tweeted from its Othersidemeta account on May 30th. “Otherside will be announcing alliances both with other Yuga PFP collections and with a select group of third party PFP collections to enlist reinforcements into the Legends of the Mara battle. Owning one of these battle ally NFTs creates more ways to vanquish the Shattered and gather their treasures. A low tier environment with limited Hunter slots could gain a strategic upper-hand in fighting the Shattered — possibly leading to a better spot on the Leaderboard.”
While there is still a lot we do not know about the Legends of the Mara game, including who the “ally NFT” projects are, we do know that it will begin later this summer, according to Yuga Labs’ Otherside website.
Along with these two games coming soon to the swamp, the ApeCoin DAO’s second election season is underway and the $Ape community will be asked to elect two new Special Council members and two Governance Working Group Stewards with the first round of voting soon.
From June 15th to June 21st,, the Ape community will head to the polls for the first round of Special Council and Working Group Steward voting. During this first round, the community will cast their coins for their preferred candidates and the top five vote getting nominees in the two races will move onto the second round and will officially become candidates. After that, the community will vote again from June 22nd- June 28th., during which the community will elect its two new Special Council members and its first two Working Group Stewards.
The Bored Ape Gazette is working to interview each and every candidate before the first round of voting opens on June 15th. Check out https://www.theboredapegazette.com to find out more about each candidate and why they think they’re the right $Ape for the job.
Thank you so much for reading this week’s edition of Keeping Tabs On The Lab and be sure to follow the Bored Ape Gazette on Twitter for all things Yuga!
