Keeping Tabs On The Lab #30
To the Bored,
Good evening and thanks for reading the 30th edition of the Bored Ape Gazette’s Keeping Tabs on The Lab newsletter!
It’s going to be scoreboard September across the Yugaverse as members of the community enter the Rift and begin the Hunt in the HV-MTL Forge, fight their frens in Animoca Brands’ Wreck League, test their mental acuity with Yuga Labs’ weekly Twelvefold puzzles, and strategize the best way to defeat the Shattered and save Otherside in Legends of the Mara.
Along with all this gaming around the swamp, there’s also a lot of monkey business to unpeel, like the ApeCoin DAO’s fourth quarter staking rewards and Yuga Labs’ welcoming its new Director of Animation a-bored!
Without further ado, let's ape into the news and keep tabs on all things Yuga Labs!
To begin, the Bored Ape Yacht Club announced that HV-MTL holders and their Mechs will be able to enter the Rift and begin the next phase of the HV-MTL Forge game dubbed “the Hunt” this Thursday.
“The Rift will be ready for exploration on Thursday, September 14th. Forge on, HVs,” the BAYC tweeted on Monday.
Upon entering the Rift, Forgers will be exploring, collecting, and fighting in an effort to craft items, upgrade their Mechs, win $Ape, and prepare for the final boss battle that will happen later this year!
While there’s still a lot of mystery surrounding the Rift and the Hunt, we know that Forgers need to build out their HV-Homes enough to see the Rift in order to participate in it.
“Before you can go anywhere, you’ll need to get to the Rift,” the BAYC wrote in the guide. “This is the easiest part of your expedition: just build out your tiles into the fog of war (shrouded area) until the Rift Portal is in sight. Off you go.”
Remember, players do not need to connect to the Rift, they only need to be able to see it.
Entering the Rift isn’t the only gaming adventure that the Yugaverse will be embarking on this Thursday. Animoca Brands’ Wreck League is also launching that day. To celebrate the game’s release, Wreck League is holding its first in game tournament and everyone with a Mech is invited to enter!
“Calling all mech fighters,” Wreck League tweeted. “Compete in our first global leaderboard tournament, Mez’i’s Mayhem, for a chance to win huge prizes. Iconic Holospecs (1-of-1 NFTs) Mechs sets Majestic and Booster Boxes Individual Mech parts See you at the arenas on September 14!”
Wreck League’s first tournament will be open from the 14th to September 28th, according to the project. In order to participate in the contest and play the game later this week, users must own a Wreck League Mech which can be built from parts in Animoca Brands’ Majestic Boxes and Booster boxes. You can purchase a Majestic Box here: https://opensea.io/collection/wreck-league-majestics
Further, Koda NFT holders, you are currently able to claim one free Founders Mech between now and September 13 at 11:59 PM PT. For more information on this free claim, check out Wreck League’s website here: https://claim.wreckleague.xyz
As the Yugaverse prepares for a busy week of gaming ahead, the entire Web3 space is giving Yuga Labs’ second Twelvefold puzzle the old college try in an effort to win .12 BTC; but it’s not easy!
For the second week in a row, Yuga Labs released a new Twelvefold puzzle with .12 BTC up for grabs for the first person who solves it and inscribed their answer on-chain.
To participate, puzzle solvers will need to set up an Ordinals wallet and have a bit of BTC in their wallets to cover the fee to submit their answers on-chain.
As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, Yuga Labs launched its new Twelvefold puzzle series last week and plans to post a new puzzle every Tuesday between now and November 28, 2023.
Again, these blockchain brain teasers are not for the faint of heart and are very difficult. Check out this week’s puzzle here: https://twelvefold.io/puzzle/2/question
As the Web3 community at large tries to solve Yuga Labs’ Twelvefold puzzles every Tuesday for the next couple of months, Voyagers are getting ready to break on through to the Otherside for the first time to fight the Shattered and defend the metaverse.
On August 30th, the community learned that the Legends of the Mara would begin in September and last week Voyagers learned that Enchanters make Farmers and Hunters better at their jobs in a four part Twitter thread.
“Enchanters boost the skills of all the Oda assigned to their Otherdeed Camp simultaneously,” Yuga Labs explained from its OthersideMeta account. “Enchanters can neither fight nor farm, but the more of them you have, the faster your Farmers will harvest, and the better your Hunters will fight. Enchanters provide a great advantage to any team. Enchanters need to remain rooted to the Camp for their buffs to be active, so Koda and Kodamara assigned to enchant cannot participate in farming and hunting.”
With this new bit of info last week, Voyagers can now make an informed decision when they have to make their first big in-game decision and choose which Mara Vessel type to nest first. Remember, only one Vessel can nest on an Otherdeed at a time!
Along with a lot of fun happening around the swamp this month, it’s also important to remind everyone that the ApeCoin DAO’s fourth quarter staking rewards began on Monday and that the protocol will be distributing 15,000,000 $ape to stakers across the four staking pools between now and December 10th, 2023.
As the ApeCoin DAO’s fourth quarter staking rewards began on Monday, Yuga Labs’ new Director of Animation, Lorenzo Colaiori, officially joined the company and announced that he will be focusing on Yuga’s highly anticipated metaverse!
Before joining the Yuga Labs team, Colaiori spent nearly eight years at Riot Games and two years at Elodie Games, according to his LinkedIn.
Thank you so much for reading this week’s edition of Keeping Tabs On The Lab and be sure to follow the Bored Ape Gazette on Twitter for all things Yuga!
Sincerely,
Kyle
