Keeping Tabs On The Lab #36
To the Bored,
Good evening, and thank you for reading the 36th edition of the Bored Ape Gazetteās Keeping Tabs On The Lab newsletter!
Iād like to begin this weekās post by wishing you all a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. Itās crazy to think that Christmas is less than a week away, and this marks our third holiday season around the swamp together! I truly appreciate each and every one of you who reads this paper, and I look forward to spending many more winters in the Yugaverse with you!
This year, the Bored Ape Yacht Club community has a lot to be thankful for after Boring Security was able to negotiate the return of a bunch of Apes that were stolen in the largest BAYC hack in club history!
As the Gazette reported over the weekend, Boring Security, an ApeCoin DAO-funded security public good for Web3/NFTs and beyond, sprang into action on Saturday and negotiated the return of 55 primates that were stolen by a hacker after NFT Traderās old smart contract was exploited!
āThere were some ups and downs,ā Boring Securityās Feld told the Gazette after the negotiation. āAt first she (the hacker) would send only a couple (Apes), then stopped and asked for 120eth for the rest. But once they messaged in Chinese, I could tell they just wanted this to be over with. I kept my composure, and kept sending ETH, and they kept sending apes.ā
At this time, all the rescued Apes are either back with their original owners or are in the hands of Boring Security, and the entire Yugaverse got a wakeup call on the importance of wallet security!
Apes who would like to find out more about crypto security and how to properly store their NFTs can reach out to the Boring Security team on Twitter, @BoringSecDAO, and sign up for one of their classes! Apes who do sign up and complete the class soon will also receive a free ApeCoin-branded Ledger!
As Boring Security was saving Apes over the weekend, the Bored Ape Yacht Clubās highly anticipated collaboration line with A Bathing Ape made its debut online and in stores around the world!
āI was there 40 minutes before the storeās opening, but Iām guessing people had been lined up for over 2 hours,ā BAYC member Prince told the Gazette after waiting in line at Japanās BAPE store. āI decided to go because I missed the drop at ApeFest, and Iām currently traveling around Japan, so itās my one and last chance to buy them for retail!ā
Apes who cannot make it to one of BAPE's physical stores still have a chance to get their hands on the coveted merch. Since the drop on Saturday, BAPE has been periodically restocking various BAYC X BAPE items on its website. So, keep your eyes peeled!
Following an eventful weekend around the swamp, the ApeCoin DAO is heading to the polls one last time for this winterās election season to vote for its next three Special Council Members and its one new Governance Working Group Steward.
The five Special Council Candidates Apes have to choose from are Hazel, Airvey, BoredApeG, JasonJape, and Buuvei.
And the five Governance Working Group Steward Candidates that Apes have to choose from are BigBull, Amplify, Bojangleguy, DGT, and Evil.
ApeCoin DAO contributors have until Wednesday, December 20th, at 9 P.M. EST to cast their coins and vote for their preferred nominees whose termsĀ will begin on January 1st, 2024.
The Bored Ape Gazette has been interviewing every candidate running for $Ape office over the last two weeks. Check out the paperās interviews here: Ā https://www.theboredapegazette.com/blog/categories/apecoin-newsĀ
