Keeping Tabs On The Lab #42
To the Bored,
Good evening and thank you for reading the 42nd edition of the Bored Ape Gazette’s Keeping Tabs on The Lab Newsletter!
The past two weeks around the Bored Ape Yacht Club have gone by faster than a round of Dookey Dash Unclogged as the BAYC held its second-ever Bored Meeting, where it gave the community more information on what BAYC LLC means for Apes and revealed which three primates will represent them on the BAYC Community Council in 2024. The BAYC and ApeCoin DAO also entered the second quarter of their year two staking rewards, with 12.5 million $Ape set to be distributed to stakers between now and June 10th, 2024. And finally, speaking of Dookey Dash, Yuga Labs made the highly anticipated game available in the Philippines last night for its first-ever tech test and announced that the game will be available to everyone by May 2024!
With so much happening around the swamp, let’s roll up our sleeves, count our $Ape, grab our plungers, and keep tabs on the lab!
To begin, the BAYC held its second Bored Meeting on March 18th and the community learned that Yuga Labs decided to make the Bored Ape Yacht Club a subsidiary of Yuga Labs, dubbed BAYC LLC, to ensure that the club always had its own dedicated team that will exclusively focus on Apes, according to the Club’s Creative Director, Jeff Nicholas.
Nicholas went on to say that the BAYC LLC teams’ goal for 2024 was finding more ways bring Apes together online and IRL.
“When you really look at what BAYC is about this year it’s those things. The Clubhouse, ApeFest, Global Community Events, Made By Apes, and Collabs. It’s that simple. And its like we’re building ways to vibe together. We’re building ways to support each other, and building ways to really kind of fuse the bonds of this club.”
Along with finding out more about BAYC LLC during the club’s second Bored Meeting, the community was also introduced to the three primates that they elected to represent them on the BAYC Community Council in 2024 alongside returning BAYC Council Members Josh Ong and SeraStarGirl.
Xeer was elected to be the BAYC Community Council Co-Lead and will act as the committee's co-leader. JBond was elected to be its Made By Apes Liaison and will be responsible for finding ways to support and connect Made By Apes businesses. TigerIsFine was elected to be its Clubhouse and Events Liaison and will be responsible for setting up events between local BAYC communities and Yuga Labs.
As Apes said hello to their new representatives, the $Ape community said hello to another quarter of staking rewards!
Earlier this month, the ApeCoin DAO’s staking system entered the second quarter of its second year staking and 12.5 million $Ape are set to be distributed to stakers across the four staking pools.
During this second quarter, 3,750,000 $Ape will be distributed to the $Ape only Pool, 6,068,750 $Ape will be distributed to the BAYC Pool, 2,311,250 $Ape will be distributed to the MAYC Pool, and 370,000 $Ape will be distributed to the BAKC Paired Pool, according to a previous post from former ApeCoin DAO Special Council Member Gerry.
Not everything that’s been happening around the swamp recently has just been boring business; in fact, some Apes are having a blast after Yuga Labs announced that Dookey Dash Unclogged’s Tech Test was now available for Apes, Degens, and Normies in the Philippines region.
“Our aim is to get Yuga and DDU into millions of pockets, and for that to happen we need the game as battle tested as possible before opening the game up globally,” Yuga Labs Co-Founder and CEO Garga tweeted just before yesterday’s announcement. “Doing a soft release in limited regions like this is key to a successful worldwide rollout. Can't wait to see how many bugs @baykada smashes over the week. More regions as well as the full launch coming soon. And if your region isn't included, don't fret: Season 1 and other special aspects of the game can't be enjoyed until the global launch anyway.”
Following this first limited regional tech test, Yuga Labs plans to open the game to players in Canada, Australia, Germany, Singapore, Netherlands, UK, and France, followed by the game’s global launch by May 2024, according to the company.
Thank you so much for reading this week’s edition of Keeping Tabs On The Lab and be sure to follow the Bored Ape Gazette on Twitter to stay up to date with all things Yuga!
Best,
Kyle
