Keeping Tabs On The Lab #43
To the Bored,
Good evening and thank you for reading the 43rd edition of the Bored Ape Gazette’s Keeping Tabs On The Lab newsletter.
We are halfway through Ape-ril and things are anything but boring around the Bored Ape Yacht Club and the expanded Yugaverse. Just this week, the community got ApeFest 2024 news, learned that Voyagers will get to feed their hungry hungry Maras a Catalyst soon in the Legends of the Mara game, and Yuga Labs’ CryptoPunks book was made available for pre-order!
With so much happening around the swamp, lets ape into the news and keep tabs on the lab!
To begin, the BAYC announced that its fourth annual ApeFest will be taking place in Lisbon, Portugal From October 18-20!
For those who are unfamiliar with Lisbon, it is the capital of Portugal located in western Europe and is known for its hills, giving it the nickname 'City of Seven Hills.' Lisbon is also located on the northern shore of the Tagus River. Take a look at Lisbon below:
As Apes await more information from Yuga Labs, covering everything from events to hotels, Primates who love to plan ahead can start packing their bags with hoodies and shorts because October in Lisbon appears to be beautiful. The average temperature in Lisbon in October is a high of 73 degrees Fahrenheit and a low of 59 degrees Fahrenheit.
Along with today’s announcement about IRL ApeFest, Yuga Labs also gave Voyagers an online update regarding its Legends of The Mara game.
After months of farming Otherdeeds, fighting Shattered, and working up an appetite, Voyagers who have earned Catalyst creatures will be able to feed them to their Maras transforming them into Kodamaras later this week.
“Time to grow up,” Yuga Labs Gaming tweeted. “Kodamara Fusion. 4/18/24. https://lotm.otherside.xyz/kodamara.”
As the Bored Ape Gazette previously reported, every Voyager with an original Otherdeed was invited to burn their Otherdeeds for Yuga Labs’ dynamic Otherdeed collection dubbed “Otherdeed Expanded” last year.
By burning their original Otherdeeds, Voyagers received a new Otherdeed expanded NFT along with either a Farmer, Hunter, or Enchanter Vessel. These Vessels became Maras and these Maras are the creatures that can eat Catalysts and become Kodamaras.
By feeding their Maras one of the six Catalyst types later this week, Voyagers' mystical creatures will transform into Kodamaras, and their aesthetics will vary based on their Mara’s starting type and the type of catalyst it ingests, according to Yuga Labs.
Along with deciding which type of Catalyst to feed their Maras during the Kodamara Fusion process, Voyagers will also have to decide whether or not to add a sediment fragment or two to their mystical creature, further impacting their Kodamara's appearance.
As Voyagers get ready to turn a page in the story of LOTM later this week, CryptoPunks and the broader Web3 space were invited to pre-order Yuga Labs’ CryptoPunk book dubbed “Free To Claim” for $100 USD.
On Monday, Yuga Labs announced that its 800-pagebook that chronicles the history of the CryptoPunks collection was now available for pre-order.
"CryptoPunks: Free to Claim" is now available for pre-order, shipping Fall 2024,” Yuga Labs tweeted this morning. “Priced at $100 - both the public and token-gated Holder editions can be reserved until 5/15/24 at: https://hub.cryptopunks.app/goods”
‘Free To Claim’ is filled with stories from longtime community members and features a 400 page catalogue of the 10,000 CryptoPunks!
"wen bestseller," CryptoPunks General Manager NaughtalieStone tweeted. "But in all seriousness, this is such important part of cementing not only the legacy of Punks but also the legacy of this entire space. This book is thoroughly researched, unexpected, disruptive in a lot of ways - and some of the biggest names within web3, art, fashion have contributed to make something very unique. Pre-order through May 15th."
Thank you so much for reading this week’s edition of Keeping Tabs On The Lab and be sure to follow the Bored Ape Gazette on Twitter to stay up to date with all things Yuga!
