Keeping Tabs On The Lab #5
To the Bored,
Good evening and thanks for reading the Bored Ape Gazette’s fifth edition of Keeping Tabs On The Lab. It has been a busy couple of weeks around the Yuga Labs ecosystem with some big votes at the ApeCoin DAO, a staking update, and a new hire by Yuga Labs, among other things.
Without further ado, let’s dive into what happened around the swamp!
To begin, the ApeCoin DAO is currently voting on three different Ape improvement proposals.
The first AIP on the ballot this week is AIP-88 titled, “Earn ApeCoin Revenue Through Our No-Code NFT Drop Platform & Launchpad,” by NiftyKit Founder and Bored Ape Yacht Club member, Dan.
In AIP-88, Dan proposes that the DAO fund an ApeCoin launched for projects and artists looking to build on $Ape.
“We want to become a launch pad to help make ApeCoin NFT project ideas come to life,” Dan explained in his proposal.“ Through our established no-code, self-serve smart contract platform, NiftyKit, anyone can launch a project on our platform in just minutes, unlocking accessibility for the next generation of NFT creators. By building deep integration with ApeCoin, we can unlock new levels of utility for the token, making it the foundational coin for the creator economy.”
The next AIP on the ballot is AIP-91, “Platform to connect talent within the Ape community,” by BAYC member, Holocronape.
“In summary, it’s a marketplace (platform) where the Apes will be able to include their talents or what fields they have experience and believe they can help to the community but on the other side, instead of being businesses/agencies, they will be the Apes themselves,” Holocronape wrote.
The final AIP on the ballot this week is AIP-96 titled, “ Funding for Public Goods (ETHGlobal & Gitcoin),” by BAYC member and ApeCoin Special Council Member Maaria Bajwa.
In AIP-96, Bajwa proposes that the ApeCoin DAO fund established events and organizations, such as EthGlobal and Gitcoin, that foster the public good.
“By participating in these programs ApeCoin also has the opportunity to fund public good efforts within the broader crypto ecosystem,” Bajwa wrote. “The space is still so early that we need to encourage open source building that others can leverage. We need to encourage continued innovation and building in the space, and this is an opportunity for us to support those contributors who are pushing us forward.”
Voting for these three AIPs closes this Wednesday at 9 P.M. EST. The Bored Ape Gazette strongly encourages everyone to review these AIPs and cast their votes!
As the ApeCoin DAO votes on three different AIPs this week, the DAO recently decided to approve Snag Solutions’ marketplace proposal.
“First and foremost, we're absolutely thrilled to be supporting ApeCoin DAO and the entire Yuga ecosystem,” Snag Solutions founder Zheerwagen told the Bored Ape Gazette. “ BAYC is really what pulled me into NFTs and it's an honor to be building a marketplace for their collections.”
As a result of AIP-98 passing, Snag Solutions will get a six-month lease on a dedicated URL pointed to its site and a link to its URL from the ApeCoin homepage along with “Twitter post(s) at launch,” according to the proposal.
As the ApeCoin DAO voted to approve Snag Solutions’ marketplace last week, the DAO also received an update on staking.
Horizen Labs, the company tasked with building the Apecoin staking system, tweeted that its “go-live” date for $Ape staking is scheduled for October 31st.
Outside of the ApeCoin DAO, Yuga Labs announced that it hired its first Chief Gaming Officer on September 16th.
“We are so happy to welcome Spencer Tucker aka @EverydayZukini to the Yuga Labs family as our first Chief Gaming Officer,” Yuga Labs tweeted. “Gaming will continue to be a top priority. No alpha (yet).”
Tucker joins the Yuga Labs team after nearly 20 years in the gaming industry, according to a BusinessWire press release.
After Tucker’s hire was announced, the Chief Gaming Officer took to Twitter and shared his thoughts on gaming and digital ownership.
“Innovation drives industry, engaging experiences, community first POV, making cool shit more interesting with personalization, expression, social dynamism, ownership," Tucker tweeted. “Let’s meet, meld and materialize epic ecosystems as a group. Let’s write our own story LFG!”
As Yuga Labs announced its latest hire, several projects around the Yuga Labs ecosystem had some major updates.
BAYC member and Mutant Cattel Founder Lior.Eth has continued to tease the community with images from his upcoming project, Mutant Hounds.
“We're building an entire universe, another planet inside an existing galaxy,” Lior.Eth previously told the Bored Ape Gazette. “ The hounds are companions to the Mutants, and will have their very own stories, steeped with lore, exciting new mechanics, and insane stories.”
Jenkins The Valet’s highly anticipated tell all novel, Bored& Dangerous’ E-Reader, launched today and the BAYC community is finally able to read all the scandalous stories.
As Jenkins’ book dropped on Tuesday, a massive sale took place at the swamp. BAYC member MachiBigBrother sold Mega Mutant #30003 for 1000 Eth or $1,300,000 to BAYC member Fragmentxyz.
After today’s purchase, Fragmentxyz now holds five insane Mega Mutants.
Thank you so much for reading this week’s edition of Keeping Tabs On The Lab and stay tuned for next week’s newsletter, “The ApeCoin DAO-N LOW,” where the Gazette will take a closer look at the ApeCoin DAO.
Sincerely,
Kyle
