Good evening, and thank you for reading the 55th edition of the Bored Ape Gazette’s Keeping Tabs On The Lab newsletter.
Wow, what a week for the broader crypto space! Between the Javier Milei and Hayden Davis Libra token scandal that seems to implicate every major player and exchange, Dave Portnoy’s daily nonsense, and OpenSea’s short-lived Blur-style farming experiment, it's been a whirlwind. Like the copypasta going around the swamp today: “I’m just gonna say this—thank goodness I’m in the Bored Ape Yacht Club.”
But I don’t want to spend this newsletter rehashing the broader market because things are anything but boring around the swamp. This past week, Yuga Labs opened its Made By Apes online bodega shop, sold the Meebits brand to a longtime Meeb, and a Bored builder teamed up with the DAO to break a world record for the largest gin & tonic ever poured at NFT Paris!
Oh yeah, speaking of world records, this weekend, the entire Yugaverse, broader Web3 world, and gamers everywhere are invited to ape into Otherside and attempt to break a world record for the most players in a first-person shooter!
With so much happening around the swamp, let’s return to monkee, ignore the outside noise, and keep tabs on the lab!
To begin, shopping local and buying bored just got a whole lot easier! Last week, the Bored Ape Yacht Club launched its MadeBy Shop platform, a Shopify Collective pilot program featuring Made By Apes products for everyone!
Right now, there are 111 products for sale on the Made By Apes website, ranging from beverages by Ape Water and Bored Brewing Co. to sweet treats from Frens Chocolates and insane merch from Guccheetah’s House OG!
The shop has something for everyone, inside and outside the club, and Yuga Labs plans to add even more items over time!

As BAYC opened the doors to its digital storefront, the club’s parent company closed its chapter on Meebits.
Last Friday, Yuga Labs announced that it had sold the voxel brand to the newly formed Meebit Company, led by longtime Meeb Sergito and backed by 1Confirmation, for an undisclosed amount.
“Steering an NFT project to success takes vision, dedication, and a deep love for the community,” Yuga Labs CEO Garga wrote after the sale. “Meebits couldn’t be in better hands with @sergitosergito and the team at MeebCo—excited to see them push the Meebs to new heights, and to see their plan for Bits unfold. Onward!”
This Meebits move aligns with Garga’s longstanding vision for a more focused Yuga Labs. Since returning as CEO in February 2023, he has sold HV-MTLs and Maras to Faraway, sold off 10KTF, pushed for a more crypto-native approach, and doubled down on Yuga’s flagship brands, Apes and Otherside.
As major shakeups happen around the swamp, Made By Apes brand Gin Ape stirred up a world record-breaking Gin & Tonic during NFT Paris!
Last week, Gin Ape made swamp and cocktail history by setting a Guinness World Record for the largest Gin & Tonic ever, 2,222 liters!
“This is a moment for the history books – we have officially set the Guinness World Record for the largest Gin & Tonic (2222 liters) during NFT Paris 2025,” Gin Ape Founder Makash Mak told the Gazette. “But what makes this record truly historic? And finally, speaking of world records, Yuga Labs is inviting everyone around the swamp, the broader Web3 world, and even those outside crypto entirely to ape into Otherside this Saturday, February 22nd, at 12 P.M. ESTto help make history and break the Guinness World Record for the most players in a first-person shooter!
To break the record, Yuga Labs will need at least 1,531 players to ape into the swamp and compete in this month’s episode of Project Dragon!
